No, really.

At a press conference in Hollywood this morning, rock band Mötley Crüe announced that the 72-city tour this year will be their very last one. They will hit the road with Alice Cooper as an opener (!) on July 2 and say farewell as a band on November 21, 2014.

But for us Nashvillians that’s not the biggest news to come out of that presser. Also announced were plans by Big Machine Records to record a country tribute album to the band featuring the label’s artists including Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, and Cassadee Pope.

What, no Rascal Flatts version of ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’?

Actually, I don’t know about those last three, but I think an FGL or Gilbert rendition of ‘Dr. Feelgood’ would probably kick all kinds of ass.

Potentially also included will be LeAnn Rimes who has discussed the project with Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta, since he told Billboard that she “has a great idea for one of their biggest hits. It will shock people.” He further added that “I want them all to strip down the songs to just the acoustic guitar and then rebuild them with their own vision. The songs are that good they can stand up to that kind of treatment.”

Along with the BMLG artists, other country artists will lend their talents to the project and it will include some unique collaborations.

If you need a reminder of what they are ‘countrifying’…
