The last show of the tour……..

While three shows in three days is exhausting especially when you include all the travelling, it’s amazing how that fatigue doesn’t even register once the music starts.

Even after the out-of-this-world performance on Friday in Atlanta, this show was always going to be special. The atmosphere in the arena was electric, everyone knew they were at a very unique show.

Near the beginning of the show Keith noticed a girl in the crowd with a sign asking to let her play his guitar. He called her up on stage and probably like most people thought she’d want to strum along to one of the big hits. Instead she asked to play the solo out of ‘Raise the Barn’. After some amused looks from Keith and the band, she ripped through the solo perfectly, which prompted Keith to kick into the song. The communication between the band is perfect, we should all really hope they keep this band together for the next tour.

Everyone seemed to be in a higher gear for this show, especially Brian. Each bandmember got their time in the spotlight again, something not every performer will allow these days.

The acoustic rendition of ‘Raining on Sunday’ was the best I have ever seen it, hopefully this will be the one featured on the upcoming live DVD.

Also standing out was ‘Better Life’, it summed up the whole tour: a big happy party – a band and audience love fest. :)

At the start of the very last song, ‘Everybody’, many people were in tears already. Keith expressed his gratitude to his fans, seemed to thank everyone he ever met, had a special shout out for Monkeyville members and was basically trying to keep his emotions under control. He managed til about halfway through when the tears did finally come. Accompanied by louder cheers from the crowd he finished the song and proceeded to shake hands and thank the people lined up along the stage and catwalk. We got the feeling he really wanted to thank every single person in the entire arena.

After saying farewell, but not goodbye, to some of the crew the reminiscing could begin. And the planning of the next tour in 2009 when we get to do this all over again!!

Thank you to all the wonderful KU fans I met this last year, you all made it a very special year indeed!!
