Nashville will be represented in three of the four big Grammy Awards categories when the gramophones are handed out in February 2016.

I was thrilled to see Chris Stapleton‘s Traveller in the Album of the Year category, especially after he cleaned up at the CMA Awards. Could an even bigger surprise be waiting for him?

In Song of the Year, it’s true vindication. Little Big Town‘s “Girl Crush” is an incredibly clever piece of songwriting, but it also turned out to be a huge commercial success. Let’s hope that counts when the final votes are tallied!

Both Sam Hunt and Meghan Trainor made it into the Best New Artist category, and are representing the Nashville songwriters community there.

In the country categories, I’m really happy to see The Love Junkies will get a shot at the Best Country Song award for “Girl Crush.” Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose wrote a stunning song, and it fell in the right hands when Little Big Town recorded it.
