Memorable Moments from the 2014 GRAMMY Awards

Larger-than-life award shows always provide plenty of memorable moments, and last night’s GRAMMY Awards did not disappoint.
A selection of my favorite moments:
* Both Lorde and Ryan Lewis are charmingly inexperienced at accepting awards. Instead of leaving the stage for the backstage press room, they both returned to their seats with their new trophies.
* Even though four of their albums are in the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, when Celebration Day won the Best Rock Album category, it marked the very first GRAMMY for Led Zeppelin. Seriously.
* This happened:
* Kacey Musgraves being aware that her dress is very, very short indeed.
* I never really understood the whole “drummers are so sexy” thing until I watched Dave Grohl play live. Damn…
* The joy on stage, and in the audience, during this performance! I mean, just look at Stevie Wonder!
* Realizing how much I miss Keith Urban just being a damn fine musician, instead of an “entertainer,” when he allowed himself to (only just) be outplayed by Gary Clark Jr.
* Pink. No safety net. Not one wrong note.
* Lorde being genuinely surprised by her Song of the Year win for ‘Royals.’
* Kirk Hammett remembering to pay proper tribute to the late Lou Reed (unlike the Academy… For shame!)
* And speaking of Metallica, who thought this would ever happen…and sound as great as it did?
* Carole King. There can never be too much Carole King.
* And finally…half a Beatles reunion!
