2014 was the year of Luke Bryan. With Taylor Swift finally admitting she makes pop music, Bryan had free reign. Turn on any commercial radio station and you never had to wait more than 2 or 3 songs, and there he’d be. When Billboard collated the year’s chart information, 9 of those charts are topped by Luke Bryan.
In his wake, he also pulled his publisher, Sony/ATV, and his label, Capitol Nashville, along for the ride and both organizations lead various industry charts after their successful year.
So, will this dominance continue, or will another performer take over? Is it time for female artists to be heard again, or perhaps a vocal group to get more of the attention?
