On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the inspirational country music community gathered at the Schermerhorn Symphony in Nashville, TN for the 2012 ICM Awards. Chuck Day was crowned Entertainer of the Year, and Vince Gill picked up two awards, Inspirational Country song of the Year (‘Threaten Me with Heaven’), and Mainstream Country Artist of the Year. Male and Female Vocalist of the Year went to Chuck Hancock and Laura Dodd respectively, and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver were named Vocal Group of the Year.

Hosted by Inside Edition’s Megan Alexander and GAC’s Storme Warren, the evening was opened by The Roys performing ‘New Day Dawning.’ Other highlights included a powerful performance of ‘Carry You’ by Mac Powell, the moving ‘Me on His Mind’ by Andy Griggs written by his late brother, and well-received performances by John Berry, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, DJ Miller‘s award show debut with ‘Between Sundays,’ Crawford Crossing, and newly crowned Musician of the Year Greg McDougal. Johnny Lee Cook was the recipient of this year’s Living Legend Award and delivered a touching and very inspirational acceptance speech..

The show was televised nationally and aired on TCT Television Network, Total Living Network, NRB Network and Golden Eagle Broadcasting. If you missed it, you can check local listings for repeat air dates and times. For the first time, Nashvillians can view the show on WKRN-TV (Channel 2) on December 23. “We at Nashville’s News 2 WKRN-TV are thrilled to be a part of this year’s Inspirational Country Music Awards,” said Michelle Dube, the station’s Director of Programming and Community Affairs. “This is a special event for those involved and the fans of their music and we look forward to sharing it with them.”
