Single Review: Let’s Get Together – Phil Vassar

Phil Vassar returns with a new summer single, ‘Let’s Get Together.’ Inspired by summer night socials at his house, this is a classic laid-back sunny season song.
The opening verse holds all the details, showing us the backyard party with descriptions of tiki torches and of the friends having a good time. It’s a shame this isn’t carried through enough in the second verse, which now doesn’t add much to the picture being painted. The tune’s central message is found in the bridge: life’s about memories/let’s make us some.
This is the kind of song Vassar does really well. His relaxed vocals sit on top of contemporary country instrumentation, of course strengthened with a generous helping of piano; Vassar’s instrument of choice.
‘Let’s Get Together’ is an unpretentious summer song and which will put some sun and fun in your radio.
