Nashville songwriter Phil O’Donnell traveled back to his native Canada last week where he was inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame. He shared the honor with Marc Durelle, the late Gary Burgess, Larry Mattson and Johnny Storm. The ceremony, hosted by Gary Morris, was held on October 19.
O’Donnell traveled to Nashville for songwriting trips for a decade before finally moving there in 1994. He currently writes for HoriPro and celebrated a big success this year when ‘Give it All We Got’ became George Strait‘s 60th #1 hit.
He previously co-penned a chart-topper with ‘Back When I Knew It All’ (Montgomery Gentry), and other notable song credits include ‘Love Remembers’ and ‘I Got You’ (Craig Morgan), and ‘Tougher Than Nails’ (Joe Diffie). Other artists who recorded his songs include Blake Shelton, Rodney Atkins, Darius Rucker, Chris Young, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Scotty McCreery, Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, Randy Travis, Tracy Lawrence, Sammy Kershaw, and more.
Besides songwriting, O’Donnell also found success as a producer, most notably with Craig Morgan’s 2005 multi-week #1 smash, ‘That’s What I Love About Sunday.’
