When UCN Hits the Road in a Chevy Volt…

Just before the start of CMA Fest 2012, Chevrolet made us an offer we could not refuse. The iconic brand, greatly connected with country music for many years, made their new Volt electric car available for a test drive. How could we pass that up? And I did say I wanted “out-of-the-ordinary” features during the CMA Fest week…
We set off from one of the trendiest spots in East Nashville, Marché Artisan Foods, and spent a beautiful morning driving to some of our favorite spots in town. And a smooth ride it was! The Volt is an amazingly quiet vehicle and it was a pleasure to drive. It switches seamlessly between driving on its battery and on gas, can be charged from a regular outlet, and has a battery with extended range. Word from Chevrolet is that the average customer goes about 900 miles between gas fill-ups. That’s a very attractive prospect!
If you want to check out the cars and perhaps have your turn in a Chevy vehicle, go find the booths on Lower Broadway and 4th Ave South during CMA Fest this week.
Check out a summary of our adventures below. Did we mention this is one smooth car…?
