New Music Out Today: Lady Antebellum, Craig Campbell, Pistol Annies

With summer approaching, there are lots of new releases rolling in. Today saw three big records hit stores.

Next week’s #1 country album, and possibly #1 Hot 200 album, Lady Antebellum‘s Golden is the fourth project from the trio, released on Capitol Nashville. They co-produced the album with Paul Worley and have explained much of it was inspired by their life on the road. “We were just kind of in that live show mindset for this album,” said Lady A’s Dave Haywood. “We had that perspective of being on a tour and having seen what translates in an arena. We have a better idea what kind of songs are so relatable where it shakes everybody like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve totally been there.’”

You can pick up Golden on iTunes.

Bigger Picture’s Craig Campbell released his second full-length album, Never Regret, which was produced by Keith Stegall and Matt Rovey. The album houses twelve tracks, half of which Campbell had a hand in writing, the other half by some of Nashville’s finest songsmiths. The album’s theme is immediately clear: “I wanted the title to be a declaration of how I feel about life and the choices I’ve made ever since I decided to move to Nashville to pursue a career in music,” shares Campbell. “I go with my gut instinct and will Never Regret the choices I’ve made.”

An album that could give Golden a run for its money is Annie Up, the sophomore album from trio Pistol Annies who again worked with producers Frank Liddell, Glenn Worf, and Chuck Ainlay. All three ladies are accomplished songwriters and penned (mostly) strong material for this release. If only they would drop the overly forced marketing for this group…
