Just nine months after their glorious night at the GRAMMY’s, where they picked up awards for Best Country Duo/Vocal Performance and Best Folk Album, duo The Civil Wars have announced the cancellation of all scheduled tour dates.

Using language often reserved for divorce proceedings, the duo’s statement cites “irreconcilable differences” and also explains they are “unable to continue as a touring entity at this time.” Not closing the door completely, the statement adds: “We thank each and every one of you for your amazing love and support. Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013.”

A relentless touring schedule may have taken its toll on the duo, who broke through to worldwide fame just a few short years ago. Earlier this year, Joy Williams gave birth to her first child with husband Nate, who is also the band’s manager, which may explain the “irreconcilable differences in ambition.”

The statement is available at thecivilwars.com/tourcancelation. The duo also took the Twitter to communicate directly with their fans who might seek refunds for purchased tickets.
