For his first national single release, Bobby Chitwood has transformed the Jason Mraz hit ‘I Won’t Give Up’ into a country ballad.

Read the story of how the new song came about in the press release:

The recording of the song, which appears on Chitwood’s forthcoming album Gravity (Mesa/Bluemoon Records, May 2013), came about through a talented connection. “Jason [Mraz] and I know each other through a friend,” Chitwood says. “I’ve talked about covering a song of his for a while but this one [“I Won’t Give Up”] was the first that I really thought could cross over well into Country. I asked him if he’d mind if I re-cut it and he said it would ‘be awesome.’”

Bobby Chitwood and Jason Mraz share a mutual friend in Toca Rivera, a ifted percussionist who writes and tours with Jason. Rivera cut the background vocals on Jason’s version as well as Bobbys and those tracks were cut in Jason’s home studio. “All said and done, I think the cut turned out great and I’m really excited about it,” Chitwood says.

Bobby has previously released the singles “Women Ain’t So Hard to Understand” and “Live for the Moment” independently, and has enjoyed a strong following in the Western states. “I Won’t Give Up” is his first single released nationwide.

Originally from Texas, the singer/songwriter with the velvet vocals has been writing and performing since his teens. Chitwood now lives in Wyoming and is a member of the Wyoming National Guard. He also serves as the celebrity spokesperson for Wounded Warrior Homes, an organization that provides homes for soldiers suffering from PTSD, (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), or who have returned from deployment with traumatic head injuries.
