A while back, I was at a songwriters night at The Bluebird Café. One of the writers had to cancel due to illness and his replacement was Matt Ramsey. A new name to me but I left that night as a fan. At CMA Music Fest, Matt played with his band, Ramsey, at the Hard Rock Café stage. I was just as impressed as the first time. With the whole band present, the songs had more flesh on their bones and even though it was early (for musicians anyway!), it rocked! Ramsey presents solid southern rock, good grooves and creative songs.

Check out the video below of stand-out ‘That Kind of Life’. It is an impressive piece of songwriting. Each verse puts a different spin on the phrase “that kind of life” and so each pass at the chorus holds a different meaning as more context is added. Brilliant!

For those in Nashville, Ramsey plays alternate Thursdays at Blue Bar (1911 Broadway).

To keep up with Ramsey, check out the band’s Facebook page here.
