Frankie Ballard, Jaren Johnston, and Luke Laird were honored by BMI and ASCAP for the #1 success of ‘Sunshine & Whiskey’ yesterday, alongside the track’s producer, Marshall Altman.

It marked Ballard’s second consecutive chart-topper, and makes the album, Sunshine & Whiskey, the commercial success I hoped it would be when I first heard the record.

Johnston celebrated his 4th #1 it, BMI reports it is Laird’s 19th, but it may actually be his 20th. I’m losing count…

His raised profile and well-deserved success hasn’t quite yet sunk in with Ballard, who remarked “I still get this overwhelming feeling I don’t deserve to be up here.” I respectfully disagree.

Ballard will be spending the the next while on the road with Florida Georgia Line, so it seems that sunshine & whiskey will remain a bit of a theme for him.
