With Set You Free, Gary Allan delivered an immensely strong record this week. It seems the fans agree and the new disc immediately shot to #1 on the iTunes Album Chart this morning. That’s the All Genre chart, by the way, not just country albums. The album was propelled by the strong lead single, ‘Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain),’ which to date has sold 700,000 copies and earned gold certification from the RIAA. So overwhelming was the response to the single that the album release was brought forward two months.

The Nashville Scene said of the record that “when it comes to album-making as a series art form, Neil Young has nothing on Gary Allan,” and compared them both as “un-showy songwriter types who make clear that they’re under no one’s thumb and approach their albums as cohesive works.”

In support of the record, Gary Allan will visit The Tonight Show With Jay Leno this evening, January 23.
