Jimmy Wayne Starts Country Music Hall of Fame Christmas Season

Last Friday, November 25, Jimmy Wayne was the special guest at the Country Music Hall of Fame as they officially started the “Deck the Halls” season by switching on the lights of the Christmas tree. Singer-turned-advocate Jimmy Wayne was the special event’s very special guest and they could not have picked a better person for the job.

Bursting onto the stage accompanied by the Declaration Singers, a talented choir from Independence High School, Wayne kicked off with holiday classic ‘Santa Clause is Coming to Town’ to get everyone in the right mood. In between his hits ‘Stay Gone,’ ‘Paper Angels,’ and ‘I Love You this Much,’ he shared a few stories from his childhood and his time in, and then out of, the foster care system. I have been listening to these stories for years now, but it is just so incredibly moving and inspiring, and Jimmy is so sincere, that it’s impossible to remain unmoved. I saw several tears being blinked away as he talked about his upbringing, his sister, and about the couple who eventually took him in. With Wayne, you never get the feeling he is saying any of this for effect; he is genuinely this grateful and fully understands the opportunity he has been given in the platform afforded to him by his music career. The turn-out was great and from the conversation I picked up around the lobby I know that Jimmy has inspired people to look into helping those in need over the holidays.

Following his performance, Jimmy and co-author Travis Thrasher signed copies of their novel, ‘Paper Angels,’ inspired by Wayne’s hit song.

If you want to help those less fortunate, please consider taking part in the Salvation Army’s Paper Angel program.

Fans of Jimmy Wayne will want to keep an eye on UCN in the next few days for a special announcement.
