Live Review: Michael Franti and Spearhead – Live on the Green 2013 – Nashville, TN

Michael Franti and Spearhead threw a huge party last night in Nashville. Closing out the third week of the Lightning 100 Live on the Green concert series, Franti and his band demonstrated the ingredient that takes performers to the level of entertainers: genuinely caring about the audience. “I feel close to God when I’m closer to you,” is not just a song lyric to Franti. He spent almost as much time in the crowd as he did on stage. (And I really mean in the crowd, check out the photos below.)
The capacity crowd on Public Square was totally in sync with the band, and it turned the evening into a celebration of life, love, and music. Hit ‘The Sound of Sunshine’ and fan-favorite ’11:59′ turned the place upside down, and by the encore of recent single ‘I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like),’ part of the audience had ended up on stage.
There were so many utterly beautiful moments in this show that I’m sure it classifies as a spiritual experience. Go ahead and check the upcoming tour dates and plan a trip to the next show near you. You’ll be glad you did.
