I am sure that in their long career, Marshall Tucker Band has played all kinds of slightly unusual gigs. They will add one more on Thursday, Oct 11, when the band will follow the Vice Presidential Debate taking place in Danville, KY.

The press release explains:

This Thursday, October 11, Southern Rock icons The Marshall Tucker Band will perform at the 2012 Vice Presidential Debate as Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan go head-to-head at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.

With their legendary hit, “Can’t You See,” recently crowned the #1 Southern Rock song by Townsquare Media’s UltimateClassicRock.com, The Marshall Tucker Band will perform at Centre College immediately following the debate at approximately 10:30 PM ET.

“It’s a serious thing, being part of the debate,” says Marshall Tucker Band lead singer and founding member Doug Gray. “We are very excited to perform and would like to invite Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan to join us onstage to help us sing ‘Can’t You See!’”

Concert admission is free for festival attendees. For more information visit www.centre.edu/centredebate2012/events.html .
