When the new edition of the Guinness Book of World Records is released next week, some of the world’s biggest music acts will be among the new entries.

Metallica made history as the first band to perform on all seven continents in one year, including Antarctica. The bands historic Freeze ‘Em All show was performed on front of “120 scientists and competition winners, not to mention the 300 very curious penguins,” as per front man James Hatfield, who also called the day “the gig of a lifetime.”

Ubiquitous boy band, One Direction, makes the book as the first act to see their first three albums all debut at #1. Rapper Eminem set the record for having the most words in a hit single, as his ‘Rap God’ contains 1560 words, all in just over 6 minutes.

The age of social media has reached the famous records’ book too. Miley Cyrus is credited as being the ‘Most searched-for pop star on the internet,’ Katy Perry is commended for having the largest Twitter following at 52,463,838 (if they formed a country it would be the 25th largest nation on Earth!), and Shakira goes one further as the ‘Most Liked person on Facebook’ with over 100 million fans. That’s about the population of the 12th largest nation!
