Duo LoCash Cowboys heads back to radio with arguably their most accomplished song yet, ‘Best Seat in the House.’

A beautiful tribute to Chris Lucas‘ late father and the very special bond they shared, this song is likely to connect with just about everyone who has experienced loss. The song describes how his father had a front row seat from the “first steps in the living room” to football games and all the big life events. Now, after his passing, his dad is still watching over him “from the best seat in the house.”

It is a fantastic piece of songwriting that finds the balance in telling a personal story in a relatable way. The verses are used to express feelings, the choruses to describe the situations and to give the father a voice. This can not have been an easy song to write and to still do it in such a meticulous way is impressive.

Bookended by piano, the arrangement is framed around the central performance. It offers support for Brust‘s heartfelt lead vocal, which is strengthened by Lucas’ supertight harmony. No big dramatic production is needed when the song is this good, and the music stays in the background, and is even allowed to fall away entirely when it’s not needed.

This song is pretty much perfect and in a just world, this would fly to #1.

‘Best Seat in the House’ will hit country radio on September 30.
