One of the young talents on the verge of a breakthrough is 19-year-old Rachel Holder. The dynamic vocalist has released her new single, ‘In Your Arms,’ to radio.

Using minimalist lyrics, the song conveys enough of the things you want to say to that special person you run to for comfort, be it a lover, a friend or a family member. ‘I feel your hand rest gently on my shoulders/You guide me home and still the storm in me,’ she sings with gratitude just before the chorus expresses the tune’s message.

This piano ballad, with minimal percussion and a little bit of guitar adding some color is, all about Holder’s voice. Her performance is just about perfect and, because she doesn’t have to fight a big production which often taints performances like this, she sounds incredibly comfortable.

Compared to the material usually sent to radio this time of year, ‘In Your Arms’ is very different. That, and Holder’s convincing turn may just be enough to really get her noticed.
