Someone needs to call Taylor Swift and let her know that tween sisters, Jenny & Ashley (Cooke) are trying to steal her thunder! “My best friend, Cassie, is calling my name, but my eyes are locked and can’t look away …” “There’s got to be a storybook missing a prince, ’cause my heart grew wings with just one glimpse…” The key word, however, is “trying.”
Co-written by 13 year old, Ashley, ‘Indescribable’ sounds like it is more suited for the Nickelodeon channel, rather than country radio. The pair, originally from California, are new to the Nashville scene, have been picked up by Mike Borchetta’s, Loftin Creek Records and have recorded several singles with producer, Darran Smith. While their style of writing appears to fall in the storytelling category, that doesn’t automatically make this song any shade of country or contain any clever lyrics or reveal any depth. Vocally, Jenny & Ashley sound good and where they should be for the ages they are. While the tune is catchy and easy to learn, it will certainly appeal to the youngsters listening to the radio as they carpool to the school yard.
There certainly is potential for this duo and I look forward to seeing how they fare in the future. For more information on Jenny & Ashley, and to hear their new single on iTunes, go to their website here.
