Single Review: Wouldn’t You Like to Know – Lisa Matassa

Long Island country music artist Lisa Matassa is gearing up for the release of her debut album, Sunrise Highway, and is sending a second single to radio in anticipation of the March 21 release.
‘Wouldn’t You Like to Know’ is a catchy pop-rock song in a country jacket. In the sassy lyrics, Matassa and her girlfriends are having a good time in a bar, gossiping about, and flirting with, the boys across the dance floor. There is potential for plenty of stories here but with the lyrics sticking to describing the scene, everything is kept a little too light, and the unnecessarily loud production drowns out most of that.
Matassa is able to handle much more mature material than this. A flimsy song like this could be serviceable as an album cut but is a strange single choice, especially when the upcoming album contains better, including the strong title track, ‘Sunrise Highway.’
