Tim McGraw is happy. During last year’s Brothers of the Sun Tour, I remarked that I don’t think I have ever seen him have more fun on stage. Now, he is taking the next step up and is taking his rebooted career on a headline tour. The Two Lanes of Freedom Tour will launch on May 2, 2013 in Birmingham, AL with 30 dates confirmed so far.  Joining him on the road are Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft.

Tim is preparing for the new tour and he hopes his fans will have just as much fun as he plans to have. “This album marks a new sense of excitement and artistic freedom for me, and I really wanted to extend that same feeling to the tour and create a cool vibe for the fans,” he said in the press release. “Let’s leave anything that might be weighing us down out in the parking lot and spend a few hours together feeling alive and free. We’ve started working up new songs from the album, and there’s some really cool stuff we’ll be able to pull out this summer. My band is just kick-ass…there’s nothing these guys can’t play! We’ll be counting the days til Birmingham!”

To get his fans involved, McGraw has also teamed up with Tumblr to create the “Fanticipation” program. Starting in February, McGraw will call a fan in each city personally tip them off, so they can be the first to share the information with their friends and other McGraw fans.
