Last night at 3rd & Lindsley, Nashville country radio station WSIX hosted a benefit for the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Hosted by WSIX DJ Amy Paige, Songs and Stories featured some of Music Row’s most respected and successful songwriters.
In the first hour, we were treated to a round including Tim Nichols, Chris Janson, Brett James and The Warren Brothers. Counting their hits is almost impossible, but as the round progressed, Nichols elicited a standing ovation from the crowd with his Tim McGraw cut ‘Live Like You Were Dying,’ Janson had people dancing to his “hillbilly version” of McGraw’s ‘Truck Yeah,’ James moved people with his Carrie Underwood smash ‘Jesus Take the Wheel,’ and the Warren Brothers closed it out with their Toby Keith party anthem ‘Red Solo Cup.’
The second round of hitmakers included Eric Paslay, Steve Bogard, Rhett Akins, and Tyler Farr. Paslay kicked things off with his Jake Owen chart-topper ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night,’ Bogard got a huge cheer for his George Strait classic ‘Carrying Your Love with Me,’ Akins called Chris Young up on stage for ‘I Can Take it from There’ and raised the roof with ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ (featuring Farr as a Pistol Annie!), and Farr impressed with his, no doubt, future Top 20 (if not higher) hit, ‘Redneck Crazy.’
Check out video of four of the performances here.
