Though it also experienced a downturn in sales, just like every other genre, country music fans still loyally buy records. Billboard compiled the third quarter country sales figures for this year, and Zac Brown Band is the big winner when it comes to album sales. Their recent release, Uncaged, shifted 536,000 copies, more than double the figure for the second best-seller (but older record), Luke Bryan‘s Tailgates & Tanlines. Surprising, to me at least, are the relatively low sales for Carrie Underwood‘s Blown Away, considering she appeals to a large cross-over audience.

It is that same pop audience which helped Taylor Swift‘s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ to its massive sales figure. With over 2 million downloads, it tops the digital chart for Q3, even after not being very well received at country radio. Little Big Town not only achieved their first #1 hit with ‘Pontoon,’ but the song racked up an impressive sales figure of over 1 million units. Matching its fast climb up the radio charts, Jason Aldean‘s ‘Take a Little Ride’ was purchased over 760,000 times in just 11 weeks, and since the figures were compiled, Luke Bryan’s ‘Drunk on You’ and Florida Georgia Line‘s ‘Cruise’ both topped 500k giving them RIAA gold certification. Tim McGraw‘s ‘Truck Yeah’ and Lee Brice‘s ‘Hard to Love’ are by now also just a few downloads away from that watershed.
