Songwriters: Caitlyn Smith, Bobby Hamrick
Sarah Darling seemingly has everything necessary these days to make an impact in country music. She has the look, the sound, and the live performance. With ‘Home to Me,’ she may now also have the well-deserved radio hit.
Darling and this song are a perfect match. She confidently works her way through the simile-filled lyric, sounding as someone who knows the feeling of coming home to that special person. Songwriters Caitlyn Smith and Bobby Hamrick made it easier for her with their easily accessible lyrics. They used the tried and tested trick of namedropping various states, but do so cleverly and give them personalities, and show off a great use of rhyme, especially in the chorus.
The country-pop arrangement allows her to show off her clear voice as, in the verses, the vocals are nicely layered on top of the music. The doubletracked vocal in the chorus does make it sound fuller, but it Dann Huff‘s foot-off-the-gas production avoids
‘Home to Me’ will hopefully be the song that will introduce Sarah Darling to an even wider audience.
