It is the time for year-end lists and Billboard took a look at which country music songwriters were most successful in 2012.
During CMA week, Sony/ATV was recently named publisher of the year by BMI, ASCAP and SESAC. Proving they deserved the honor, the company tops both the Country Airplay Publisher Corporations year-end chart and the Country Airplay Publisher chart with Sony/ATV Tree Publishing through BMI.
The company’s dominance will only increase after the acquisition of EMI Publishing this year. The Sony/ATV roster now includes Taylor Swift, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and many more.
But is is Big Loud Shirt‘s Rodney Clawson who emerged as the most successful songwriter this year. He landed ten cuts on the Country Airplay chart, including Jason Aldean‘s ‘Take a Little Ride,’ Blake Shelton‘s ‘Drink on It,’ and Luke Bryan’s ‘Drunk on You.’ Clawson looks set to continue his lucky streak in 2013 with several cuts already doing well, including Tim McGraw‘s ‘One of Those Nights,’ and Florida Georgia Line‘s new single, ‘Get Your Shine On.’
