CMA Fest provided me with the opportunity to see some artists perform live for the first time, but it also reunited me with acts I had not seen for years. In the latter group sits Christian Kane. Last time I saw him was in a small venue in Birmingham, England in 2007. I have always been impressed with him, and the work with his band, Kane.

Here on stage in front of the Bridgestone Arena and playing to a family crowd, the boys needed to censor their usually rowdier selves a little but the songs stand on their own merit. Amidst party song ‘The House Rules’ and an absolutely stomping rendition of ‘Whiskey in Mind’, Kane played new single ‘Let Me Go.’ When in front of an audience who are in Nashville to enjoy sun, songs and alcohol, and who may not have heard of you, playing a ballad is a risk. But if you can get them to stop chatting about the next band they want to see at the Riverfront and pay attention, you got a great song. ‘Let Me Go’ managed to do this. Kane will be touring after the summer and I highly recommend going to check out the show!

The Birmingham show in 2007 was the first time I heard the song ‘Happy Man.’ I instantly loved it and was very pleased to hear Christian announce that the track has been cut by Trace Adkins for his upcoming album. You can check it out below. The sound is not the best but as people in the know have experienced, Kane gets loud! And that’s just how I want these songs played!
