Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert confirmed their star status last night, Nov 1, by retaining their respective Vocalist of the Year crowns at the 46th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville, TN. Shelton was the night’s big winner; he picked up his first Entertainer of the Year award after a year which saw him catapulted to fame far beyond the country music world.

The show, once again hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, was a night of firsts, with Thompson Square (Vocal Duo of the Year), Little Big Town (Vocal Group of the Year), Eric Church (Album of the Year, Chief), Hunter Hayes (New Artist of the Year), and Jay Joyce (producer of both Album and Song of the Year) all making their debut as CMA Award winners.
