Last night, December 4, Craig Campbell celebrated the release of his new Outta My Head EP in style at a private party at Nashville’s 12th & Porter music venue. Performing with his full band and in front of family, friends and music industry colleagues, Campbell debuted three new songs, got the place dancing to current single, ‘Outta My Head,’ and included his hits, ‘Family Man’ and ‘Fish.’

Campbell took plenty of time to thank those who had been instrumental in his career and had to fight his emotions when he talked about what  has happened to him since his days of playing regular nights at Broadway honky-tonk The Stage. Discovered there less than four years ago by Bigger Picture’s Michael Powers and Keith Stegall, Campbell has come a long way. Powers surprised the singer on stage with a plaque commemorating his achievements so far: four consecutive charted hits with over 1 billion radio airplay audience impressions and more than half a million downloads!

He admitted to some extra nerves brought on by playing in front of “music industry big dogs,” and the excitement of releasing the new EP.  “But it’s a good kind of nervous,” He told UCN.  “It’s not every day that I get to play in front of this crowd, and I also wanted to make sure I did my songwriting buddies proud tonight.” His fans have already taken to the new music.  “The single has had a good week on the charts, and fan reception of the EP had been great, especially ‘When She Grows Up’ and ‘My Baby’s Daddy’,” he explained.

Not forgetting how it all started, Campbell still likes to reminisce about his days at The Stage.  “I miss that place,” he admitted, before adding with a smile, “though, I don’t miss having to show up for work at regular times.” In just a few years, his career has accelerated to include hit-singles and being able to take his own band out on the road. While he and his team at Bigger Picture look to their future goals, Campbell certainly appreciates what he has already achieved.  “Every time we deal with something frustrating, we take a step back and realize what we’ve been able to do so far, and it’s amazing,” he beamed.  “I really have nothing to complain about!”

Next, he will hit the road again to bring the new songs to his fans, and will also continue work on his upcoming full-length project due out in 2013.
