After writing about Brad Paisley‘s European adventures, country music fan Jackie sent us her great pictures from London and her thoughts on the two shows at Shepherds Bush. Thanks, Jackie!

The two shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire were sold out and they were AWESOME!!

Brad (and the band) were fantastic and we in the UK were so fortunate that Brad came over and gave us two of the best nights of country music that we have ever experienced. Both shows were excellent and Brad was just so good, he is one of the few country artists that I have seen who really connects and talks to the audience, great fun – what a mischievous sense of humour – loved it!!!!! His guitar playing is stunning and he had a good selection of beautiful guitars that he constantly switched back and forth (including an acoustic part of the show which he performed on a wobbly wooden stool the first night, and a safer metal (looked like a drummers stool!) the second night, maybe health and safety had stepped in as the wooden one looked on the point of collapse!) he was aided by a man who kept nipping in exchanging the guitars when necessary, very slickly done!

He told the UK audience what a fan of various UK TV shows he was, namely Ricky Gervaise (of ‘The Office’ fame) and also ‘Top Gear’ our favourite irreverent car show fronted by the out spoken Jeremy Clarkson, Brad apparently being something of a ‘petrolhead’ himself.

Due to that, on the afternoon of the second show we were lucky enough to catch him at the side of the venue when he arrived for his sound check. We gave him an official ‘Top Gear’ T shirt that proclaimed ‘I Am The Stig’, which Brad was really pleased to accept as a little gift! We asked if he would wear it that night and were hoping he would…….we were dead chuffed that after his second brilliant spot on show, when he returned for the encore he wore the Stiggy T shirt!! Fantastic and totally made our night complete!! We hope he returns to the UK in the new year and also that he manages to fit appearing on ‘Top Gear’ into his very busy touring schedule, to do the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ timed lap feature!!! Thanks Brad – you were amazing!
