Right from when I received the very first press release about the then brand new idea, I have been a cheerleader for stageit.com. The online live show platform is a wonderful way to connect artists with their fans anywhere in the world. Earlier this evening, Whitney Duncan checked in from Jonathan Singleton‘s studio The Lodge East in East Nashville for a highly entertaining show.

Accompanied by Singleton, Duncan performed some of the songs on her new album, One Shot, which was digitally released today. The laidback set kicked off with ‘Something in the Kiss,’ and continued to follow the album track list with ‘That’s How You Make Love,’ ‘Since,’ and ‘Can’t Sleep Anyway.’ The super catchy title track, ‘One Shot,’ must have people had dancing on at least two continents, as fans from The Netherlands and Germany checked in via the stageit chat room.

They included the beautiful duet ‘We Got Tonight,’ after which Whitney laughed that it’s a little weird singing that with your cousin. The set was so relaxed and chatty it felt like an evening hanging out with my songwriter friends and everyone is sitting around in the living room playing great songs. Duncan and Singleton talked about the selection process for the new album and tried to remember the songs fans requested, with varying levels of success. At one point pulling out an iPhone to listen to one of her own songs she couldn’t quite recall how to start, Whitney was just having fun doing what she does best. Even through my laptop speakers, her voice sounded as solid as ever.

Judging from the big smiles at the end, I think both musicians enjoyed this just as much as I did, and I hope they will schedule another stageit show soon. Make sure you don’t miss it.

You can grab the brand new One Shot on iTunes here.

Keep in touch with Whitney via her facebook page and follow her on Twitter, @whitneyduncan, so she can keep you posted on the next show.
