Songwriters:   Keith Urban and Monty Powell

Keith Urban’s ‘For You,’ written for the Act of Valor movie soundtrack, speaks of the sacrificial choices of bravery which men and women face daily in the armed forces.  Peering behind the curtain into the minds of those individuals is an almost-sacred space, yet Keith and Monty Powell handle it with respect, honesty and dignity.

And it’s weighing on my mind / I’m not trying to be a hero;
I don’t wanna die / But right now in this moment, you don’t think twice

I would give my life / I would make that sacrifice
‘Cause if it came down to it, could I take the bullet, I would
Yes I would do it for you / I’d do it for you.

Keith has said about the song, “I loved the challenge of writing for a film.  I’ve never done that before. After seeing Act of Valor, my co-writer (Monty Powell) and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us. ‘Valor’ shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘what am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”

All of his publishing and artist royalties from ‘For You’ will be donated to the Navy Seals Foundation which help support SEAL families in a variety of ways.

Combined with an adrenaline-pumping production (complete with a spattering of Keith guitar-slaying skills), ‘For You’ fills the niche it was designed for … to roll with the ending credits of the movie. Whether we would hear it in a country bar, remains to be seen.

The single can be found on the Act of Valor Soundtrack and purchased at the following locations:  www.keithurban.net, iTunes and Amazon.
