Single Review: ‘Sunbird’ – Vitek

Created from equal parts world music and electro-pop, Vitek’s single ‘Sunbird’ is a really pretty piece of music coming to a radio near you soon.

The dynamic arc this Nashville-based quintet employs for the song is really well done. They start out with the song’s somewhat African sounding vocal hook, Rhodes piano, and a low key drum loop, but the track builds slowly throughout the 3:40 of its duration. By the end, it’s quite powerful. The addition of a melodic keyboard loop, horns, other background vocals, a great beat, and some fantastic little atmospheric parts, make the song a really fun listen. It’s definitely a sound you don’t hear all too often, especially here in Nashville.  The build-up right before the breakdown at 2:55 is fantastic, and then things kick right back in.

From a writing perspective, it’s more about the vibe and the music than anything else, and this track has vibe in spades. But the lyrics are definitely good. There aren’t a lot of them, but they are the good kind of poetic.

Above all else, the song is fun! It’s catchy, has a great groove, and is so melodic and easy to sing along to. I imagine this one will go over really well at Vitek’s shows!
