Jamey Johnson’s new single, ‘Heartache‘, of his profound album, ‘The Guitar Song’, is sure to be a hit. Raw, real and emotionally honest, this song takes a look at heartache as a dark-cloaked character, around since the beginning of man, just waiting to devour its next victim.

Jamey has said about the song, “The original idea was a double album. It was an album that was kind of patterned after a “ying yang.” The first part of it is very dark and sorted story and then everything after that is progressively more positive and reassuring and redemptive. Heartache is nothing new; it’s been around since the very first time it happened. When a cave man caught a cave woman lovin’ on the missing link livin’ next door … that’s when the heartache was born.” Love that imagery!

No truer statement has been said about heartaches than this: “You don’t even know it, but I’m just savin’ you for later, when I can getcha all alone.” Like a predator lurking in the shadows, heartaches are something we try to avoid, but as the song says, “I’ll always take you by surprise. I’m a heartache hungry and huntin’, someone I can eat alive.”

Craftily written by Jamey and Rivers Rutherford, Jamey’s haunting vocals bring validity and truth to the song, with minimal effort.
