With the ink still drying on their brand new deal with Average Joes Entertainment, duo LoCash Cowboys has released a new Christmas song, ‘What Time Is It?,’ as part of the label’s holiday collection.

It seems there are two ways of going about a Christmas song. You either go the traditional route, or you completely do your own thing. As the word “traditional” is not part of the LoCash playbook and doing their own thing is their default state of being, ‘What Time Is It?’ is a boisterous holiday tune unconcerned with convention. As a result, it is a heck of a lot of fun!

They prepare for the party in the first verse. ‘You can smell the pine every single mile / headed on back to the house / shake off the snow / make it all glow / mama, break the eggnog out,’ Chris Lucas and Preston Brust sing with smiles in their voices. From there, presents are unwrapped, cookies are baked, Christmas sweaters are worn, and the cheer is spread far and wide.

Moving along on a hip hop-influenced groove relying on hand-clap percussion, the fiddle-laden production keeps a light touch and is undeniably country. It creates a pleasant, modern sound which is hopefully a preview of a full-length project due out next year.

‘What Time Is It?’ is featured on Average Joes Entertainment’s holiday album, An Average Joes Muddy Christmas, available on iTunes.
