Glen Templeton‘s new single, ‘Sing that Song Again,’ references something every music fan can relate to: memories of young love and the carefree days of youth tethered to some of your favorite songs.

Although some lines follow the Music Row check-list a little too unimaginatively – ‘parked down by the river’s edge/with a 6-string in my truck bed/I pulled it out as the sun set in the pines‘ – this song still works. It makes you recall your own experiences and think back to the songs which provided the soundtrack to your youth. Masters of their craft, Hayslip and Ruttan created a smooth summer groove and a sing-along chorus, both of which fit Templeton’s voice perfectly. It all rolls along nicely on a easy-on-the-ear Mark Lambert production. The only thing I find missing is a little bridge to pull the story into the present day.

A pleasant modern country tune, I will look for this song on the summer radio airwaves.
