On June 4, 2013, hit songwriter Craig Wiseman will host the annual Stars for Second Harvest benefit, presented by O’Charley’s, at The Ryman Auditorium. Now in its ninth year, the effort has so far raised over $500,000 for the Middle Tennessee food bank. Taking place just before CMA Fest, this is the perfect event to add to your itinerary that week. There are still some tickets available for this wonderful event, visit ryman.com for information.

The evening will include Nashville-style songwriter rounds, Ralphie May’s stand-up comedy, and performances Ronnie Dunn and duo Florida Georgia Line.

“We always try to pull in some superstars,” Wiseman said. “Jon Bon Jovi and Keith Urban showed up in previous years. We also run the green room like a party and invite artists to stop by, so there will be surprise guests. We will also have Ralphie May was one of my favorite comedians. I have loved this guy for years. We’re working on including some hit writers too, I’m not sure what’s going to happen yet, which is the way we want it.” Given the meteoric rise by the duo signed to Wiseman’s Big Loud Shirt publishing company, the show has added in-house star power. “We have Florida Georgia Line performing, which is great because we had to explain who they were last year,” laughs Wiseman.

Talking about the logistics of setting up the event, Wiseman was quick to give credit where is it due. “The main sponsor O’Charley’s has been fantastic,” he said. “They paid for the room and equipment so 100% of the ticket price can go to Second Harvest. Every dollar can go to providing for meals.” And the help is still very much appreciate and very necessary. “There are still some economic hard times out there,” he affirms. “From our offices here we can lookout to one of the more impoverished neighborhoods in Nashville. The basic operating agreement that Jesus laid out, to take care of the orphans and the hungry, man, that’s not tough to do! All food banks are terribly worthy causes but this one in particular, they are one of the innovators, and the entire nation watches what Jaynee Day does with her operation at Second Harvest.”
