Taylor Swift Holds Top-selling Country Album and Digital Country Song of 2012

Well, OK, so that headline will not actually surprise anyone, I’m sure. For 2012, Taylor Swift tops both the top-selling albums and digital songs lists. She had no competition. Swift’s Red outsold the #2 album, Carrie Underwood‘s Blown Away, by just under 2 million copies. The next-best-selling song, Hunter Hayes‘ ‘Wanted,’ fell 885k units short of catching up with ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ Despite his obvious crossover appeal, Hayes is still selling primarily to country music fans so his sales figures are very impressive nonetheless. It also makes him the top breakthrough act of the year, ahead of Florida Georgia Line (at #6 with ‘Cruise’) and Kip Moore (at #9 with ‘Somethin’ ’bout a Truck’). And according to these figures, almost 1.3 million of you actually spent money on Toby Keith‘s ‘Red Solo Cup.’ Shocking.
