Single Review – ‘I’m Doing Alright’ – Jacob Lyda

13 years ago Liv Carter 2

The first opening notes are reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘I’m on Fire,’ but that is where any comparison to The Boss ends. Jacob Lyda’s debut single, ‘I’m Doing Alright’ immediately brings upon a sense of relaxation and ease. Very rarely am I able to listen to a song for the first time, and have a sensation of “ahhh” come over me. A wonderful combination of a silky smooth, yet rich honky-tonk styled, voice and lyrics that just flow seamslessly, ‘I’m Doing Alright’ brings the blood pressure of any stressed listener, straight down.

Blocking out the negativity of the day, and focusing on the good things in one’s life (in this case, a woman at home) is the theme of Jacob’s debut single with Davis Music Group/Nine North Records. “I’ve got the radio up, and the world on hold and the love of my life singing that’s the way love goes … I’m doing alright. ….. I’ve got the windows down, and a cool southern breeze and a one-in-a million sittin’ next to me …”

Co-written with Paul Overstreet, ‘I’m Doing Alright’ is the first single released from Jacob’s forthcoming album. For more information on Jacob, visit his website here: www.jacoblyda.com
