A few days before Christmas, Vince Gill and Amy Grant stopped by at the Fox Theater in Atlanta with their 12 Days of Christmas show. It was a celebration of Christmas music in all its forms, old and new, secular and religious.

Kicking off with a (very) uptempo ‘Jingle Bells,’ Vince and Amy kept the energy and seasonal cheer flowing all throughout the performance. Classics like ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,’ ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ and the song Vince singled out as his favorite, ‘The Christmas Song,’ were interspersed with plenty of stories. Both performers are great storytellers and while they mostly quipped their way through and had the sell-out crowd laughing out loud, we also got to hear some very moving, very personal stories.

With a show like this, it’s impossible to list highlights – the entire performance was a highlight. The night also included a truly wonderful performance by Vince’s oldest daughter Jennifer and ended with the couple’s 9-year-old daughter Corrina singing solo with perfect pitch on a repeat of ‘Jingle Bells.’ Also worth mentioning was the “duet” with Johnny Mathis on ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland,’ with Vince singing both parts, though you wouldn’t have known that if you closed your eyes!

If you are already looking forward to planning the 2011 holiday season, make sure you include a ticket for the next 12 Days of Christmas show!
